About us...

Plaxtol Bakery for two generations has sat in the beating heart of the Kent countryside, the true garden of England. We have evolved from our humble beginnings in the village of Plaxtol to serving our two traditional bakeries, local restaurants, garden centres, community stores, farm shops and much more.​

We just love baking and understand we will always be learning new and wonderful things - in baking you will never know it all! We are always looking for ways to improve our existing product range, or moving forward onto our next exciting project.
 

Its always amazing to hear from customers old and new, listening to their experiences and learning how we can help fill their expectations.

 Talking About Sour

We have now been making our sours for over 15 years. We share an understanding of the complexities of our Leaven - we need to take good care, feeding it at right time, keeping it at the right temperature, nurturing it and in return and over time our sourdough has developed its own unique characteristics and aromas on a daily basis.

The ​lactic fermentation is what it is really all about, giving health and well being to all those who choose to eat products made from it's goodness.

Our process is simplicity itself, learning from our previous skilled bakers and developing new skills for our new and upcoming Bakers. We only use flour, water and salt, teamed with a lot of time and patience, plus the skill of our wonderful bakers and you have the recipe for amazing bread!
